Making Holidays Bright

Hello Everyone,

It has been a pretty rough year... So I thought I would share a few things you can do to try and make this Christmas Season a little more Merry & Bright!

Here is one that I think the kids would love to do...  make a gingerbread house  It's actually fun for the whole family.

It doesn't have to be perfect - just fun!

How about roasting chestnuts - I think everyone knows the song by Mel Torme "Chestnuts Roasting on an open fire..."  My in-laws use to do this all the time.  - You can do this right in the oven too, if you don't have a fireplace.  - And they taste just as good!

Have you tried making Wassailing- which means toasting.  It's a hot spice cider. You can make it with or without alcohol.  If you are not a fan of cider, there is mulled wine, which is heated red wine with fruit and some spices.

Above is Wassail - Cider

This is the mulled wine -

You can also try the traditional eggnog or my favorite hot chocolate with marshmallows.  The kids will love these too!

You can play some board games drink your favorite drink and eat some
chestnuts and enjoy the Holiday Season!

 Hello Friends,

I know, it's been a while since my last post...  OK, a long while.  But I have been quilting, making some Christmas gifts.  Which I can't post all of them, but I will post some.

Here are few book pillows I made for some friends... These are really cute and you can put a book in the pocket along with a little stuff animal.

I also made a toddler bed set with matching pillow sham and pillowcase..
this is the ruffle pillow sham above...
This is the whole bed set all together in the bag...
It really came out so adorable - I love it!! :-)

Here below... is a tumbler quilt I just finished quilting on the longarm.
I need to square it up and add the binding, then it will be done.
I will post a picture when binding is done.

Thank you for stopping by!

Working from Home

Hello Everyone,

I know I haven’t posted since April…  It’s kind of funny when you’re working from home, you seem to work more than when you’re working in the office.  I really haven’t been doing much quilting. I've been working outside in the yard, weeding & mulching.  My husband made a pond with a waterfall, which is beautiful…  Here are some pictures.

OK, back to quilting...  I am still working on my log cabin quilt, and now I have a wedding quilt to start…  Which I think is good...  I need a deadline to get me motivated again.

I still need to add two more borders on this then the top will be done.

Below is the material I think I am going to using on the wedding quilt...

I will share when done!

Another week of Isolation

Hello Everyone,

Please stay healthy!  Stay in, be safe!
Who would have ever imagined we would be in a pandemic, crazy times for sure... I am blessed I have my hobby to keep me busy, it's my therapy...

I made some masks for family and friends to wear when going out to the store or in public...
I am making a couple of i-spy quilts for the grand kids...
Here is one, that's all done below...
The colors are nice and bright.
The back is little monsters -
I haven't made any clothes since high school...
But when I saw this little jumper dress pattern... I knew I had to make it.

I am going to make a couple more.

Hello Everyone,

I hope you are all safe & well... This is my 2nd week of staying at home routine. I am grateful to have my sewing to keep me busy, it's a good distraction from what's going on in the world.  I do miss seeing my extended family and friends. I pray that this will all end soon and we can get back to some kind of normalness.

Here is an update on a couple of quilts I have been working on...
The orange and teal quilt is all quilted. I am sewing the binding on the back, and I hand bind all my quilts.  - Here it is...
This is the back - love the colors, matches the front perfectly

Below is an update on the forest friends - I have it on the long arm ready to be quilted.  I will finish this one this weekend :-)
I am not sure what quilt pattern I will use on this one yet...  But I can't wait to get started...

I don't know if you remember, but back in 2015 I created a memory sweater pillow for a dear friend of mine.  I added pictures and a label.  I am updating this for her now that I have a better embroidery machine..
Here is the new label below...  I need to cut some threads and finish it off
then I will sew it to the sweater pillow below...

Stay healthy & safe!
